Candler Park is a historic neighborhood located about five minutes east of downtown Atlanta. It was first established as Edgewood, one of Atlanta’s first suburbs, back in 1890, and as Atlanta has grown, Candler Park has become one of the city’s most coveted intown neighborhoods, with plenty of shopping, dining and recreation opportunities all within walking distance.
The centerpiece of the neighborhood is Candler Park itself, a 55-acre city park encompassing playgrounds, tennis courts, a swimming pool, sports fields and a 9-hole public golf course. The Candler Park neighborhood is also known for its eclectic array of shops and eateries, with easy access to other local Atlanta attractions via a MARTA rail stop situated within walking distance of anywhere in the neighborhood. Every fall, the neighborhood association puts on its popular Fall Fest, featuring live music, artists and fun activities and drawing thousands of visitors each year.
Candler Park is home to about 3700 people with a median annual income of approximately $90,000. The neighborhood includes a fair number of historic residences, including small and medium-sized homes, with median home prices currently sitting at around $350,000.

Candler Park is within the Atlanta Public School district. All public schools local to the neighborhood score above the state average. K-5 students attend Mary Lin Elementary School, a small school of about 600 students located adjacent to the park itself. Grades 6-8 attend Inman Middle School in the nearby Morningside district (with an enrollment of 680), while grades 9-12 attend Grady High School in midtown Atlanta, home to the Knights, with a combined enrollment of around 1500.
There are a number of acclaimed private schools near Candler Park, as well, most notably The Paideia School on Ponce de Leon Avenue. Despite a combined pre-school through 12th grade enrollment of nearly 1000, Paideia offers a smaller teacher-student ratio than local public schools with an emphasis on academics and arts.
